Minimum System Requirements
Ok, That's what I consider Minimum. Here's a few "Frills" I think are good to look for but if they aren't available in a script you really like then don't worry about it.

All WebHosts are NOT created equal Let me throw in a brief mention of Hosting Companies ... when you're going to run an eMail Marketing System not all hosting companies can service your needs! Sure, when you're starting out most hosting providers will be able to fill the bill for running your system. However, when your subscriber count grows you need a powerful system to handle the load placed on the server itself. Also, if your on a shared hosting provider you have no way of knowing how many other sites are doing the same thing you are ... could you imagine the system load when 5 marketers are all sending to their subscriber base of 5,000 ... 10,000 or more! Let me tell you ... it can get ugly! I've seen more than one server brought to a screeching halt when this happens. We recommend only two providers that will give you what you need. There may be more but we have personal experience with these and can certify that they have the necessary hardware to keep you running. ThirdSphere: Host4Profit: Last but not least ... once your system grows to 20,000+ subscribers plan on getting a dedicated server. When you near that point get in touch with us ... we have connections for everything you need at competitive rates. Last note on this point ... we consider a dedicated server Mandatory once you get to 50,000 subscribers!
So ... What Are Your Options??? First, I want you to know I make no recommendations for Autoresponder/Follow Up Mailer "Services". In my opinion this defeats the purpose and you're much better off having that money available for paid ads or Pay Per Click Search Engines. What is the downside? Only One ... the initial cost. Typically you're looking at a minimum of $100 USD and a week to set it up. (If you're "Script Savvy" you can install it yourself and save a few bucks.) However, when this is done ... you have no other costs!!! Considering the average fee for the "Service" providers is $24.95 per month you will recoup your investment in 4 to 8 Months, IF you only consider the "per month" cost of a "service". When you consider the time savings, peace of mind, and the benefits of being self sufficient your recoup time is considerably less. That's Right ... the other BIG advantage to this is "YOU" have total control! You never have to worry about the service going down and you can always maintain a backup copy of your subscribers for disaster recovery. Ok, Let's Look at the Options .... |
